Had I realised your depth of feeling towards Avner, I could have had Kit inadvertantly release Vanthus by taking his moment of revenge when Avner is at the wards.

    That would have worked. :)
As long Kit didn't interfere with Sarajahn and Lavinia, Sarajahn would pretty much leave Kit alone. Though I imagine Kit wouldn't be happy about Sarajahn and Lavinia

Dunno why you think that. Kit didn't care about Lavinia. He was attracted to her, but he valued his employment to James more, plus he doesn't like messing with nobles.

Heh. Leave Kit alone. That's funny.
How would Kit have handled his departure from Liamae?

He would have shrugged, made some kind of quip, and moved on.

Blarg. I can't believe this is the first post-game "question and answer" session we've ever had.

    9 Into the Maw
The party finds a device which allows their ship to travel to and from the planes. Upon interrogating one of the few pirate survivors using charm person, Sarajahn finds out where Vanthus is taking Lavinia, and that he intends to turn her into a half-fiend! There is no time to lose, so the ship sails into the Abyss.
Whilst sailing, Liamae, angry at Kit for leaving comes to Sarajahn's cabin and offers to sleep with him. He surprises himself by saying no. The drow also realises why she wants to sleep with him and tells her if she wants to get back at Kit, she should speak to his sister Sana. When Sarajahn is alone, he muses that it wasn't like him to have refused Liamae, and he realises he has real feelings for Lavinia, and thie scares him

They reach the Abyssal prison where Lavina is held. They pass celestrials and Archons. After they kill a couple of demons, they get to meet the Warden. They are informed that Vanthus no longer has Lavinia, she has been taken by a Marilith The party gets Sarajahn to negotiate the release of the celestrials and Archons. The warden agrees to release a certain amount of them in exchange for killing each faction leader that opposes him. He calls up a map that shows the location of each leader. The party manage to bribe the warden into letting some of the celestrials go as a good will gesture.
However it wasn't so simple. Some of the demon faction leaders had useful information. It required careful playing off the factions, and then betraying them when they had what they needed. Gandt and Lucillia were deeply unhappy with this approach , Lucillia even threatened to leave. James was able to calm things down though. During the coures of their travels through the prison, they were ambushed by Vanthus' retinue, a bunch of Shadow Demons. After making them dead shadow demons, the man himself appeared, on a nightmare mount. He surprises the party by yelling curses at Sarajahn and attempts to charge the Hexblade. However Lia is quicker on the mark and takes out Vanthus' steed from under him. Vanthus still tries to reach Sarajahn until Gandt intercepts him. Sarajahn turns into a 12 headed Hydra and then attacked the Death Knight. Each of Vanthus' limbs were gripped by the presently many heads of the Sarajahn Hydra, and Vanthus is pulled apart. Again Vanthus has failed.
After they have dealt with the factions, they finally get the chance to rescue Lavinia from her captor. The Marilith proves to be a tricky foe and the party are severely wounded before the demon. They release Lavinia, whom initially needs reassurance the party are who they say they are. She runs for comfort, not from James, but from Sarajahn....
What the party learned is that the ex-lover of Demogorgon, Shami-Amourae, was imprisoned by him somewhere. If they want to find out where, then they should travel to the Abyssal city of Broken Reach and speak with a scholar named Red Shroud.

(Apologies if I took liberties here.
Sarajahn wasn't too bothered about James as he knew Lavinia was the one whom wore the trousers in the Vanderboren family.
I think I'll rewrite the rise of Vanthus so that Kit kills Avner. It provides a more solid reason why Kit leaves Farshore. Plus Vanthus is the kind of git who would gloat about Kit being the one whom brought him back by murdering Avner.
Also I think Lucillia would have had problems with "Into The Maw".)

Well, if anyone was likely to go after Sarajahn, it was James.

The OFFICIAL reason for Kit's departure is his acquirement of a ship. Now free to do whatever he wants with enough gold to enjoy it, he saw no reason to continue risking his life for somebody else.

Thanks for the epilogue! It always was a shame that we got so far without any closure.

(No worries. Gandt is gonna get a nice surprise in chapter 11. Chapter 12 is the last one.
Sorry TG if I annoyed you.
I might have a small fight between James and Sarajahn.
I pretty much thought Gandt would go monster hunting after the adventure or semi-retire and train up warriors for Farshore.
Lavinia will get a small epilogue which will include the fate of Farshore.)

    James And Sarajahn
Over the next few days as the ship sailed to it's next destination, James sees little of his sister. Of course he knows where she spends majority of her time and more importantly whom she spends it with. He tries to not think on how she's spending her time with Sarajahn. Gandt andt was also annoyed with Sarajahn. Lia was more of a let's see where this goes whilst Lucillia was more optomistic about the relationship. Whilst sparring with Gandt helped a little, James' anger continues to stew, made worse by the fact he had confirmed that Lavinia was spell free. Meaning what she did with Sarajahn was of her own free will.
One night James saw Sarajahn walking alone. Making the most of the opportunity, James follows him into the galley where he angrily confronts the Drow male. Sarajahn remarks that Lavinia is capable of making her own decisions. James surprises Sarajahn by slamming him against the wall, making terrible accusations about the Drow Hexblade. Sarajahn freely acknowledges he did some bad things in order to survive when he was with his people but remarks that it was impossible to live in a drow city with unbloodied hands. He also says that he wants to break from his former life and insanity of his people. James sneers and suddenly Sarajahn realises what this is really about. He tells him that Lavinia only sees him as a brother, and whilst she does love him, it's only sisterly love. James realises this is true.
Whilst James is distraught by realising he never had a shot with Lavinia, Sarajahn has a stroke of fortune when Liamae also comes into the galley. Master manipulator that he is, Sarajahn gets her to look after James. The drow also craftily gets the pair drinking, then leaves them to it.
The next morning, a hung-over James wakes up next to Liamae, whom is also waken. They talk and decide to leave as an one-time thing. They both have issues just now, and it wouldn't be fair to enter a relationship. James then finds Sarajahn and tells him he knows what he did and thanks him, as he needed that. He also tells the Drow that while he hates him seeing his sister, he won't oppose it.

Sparring would probably be better. Dueling implies a fight to the death.

Well, I don't think that would happen because of her long time working relationship with James, and I think Kit saving her life allowed her to mellow out with him, but she was such a minor character I don't really care.

    10 Wells of Darkness
Whilst sailing the Abyssal seas, the party come across a ship of traders. After some welcome buying and selling, the party is soon on their way. After some minor encounters, the party arrive at it's destination. After some intimidation from Gandt and Sarajahn, the heroes find their way to Red Shroud's abode. She turns out to be a Succubus(yes another one) with long red hair. After some negotiation Red Shroud reveals that Shami-Amourae is a former Queen of the Succubi, and former consort to Demogorgon. She was imprisoned by Demogorgon after she tried to manipulate him into joining her war against contenders for her crown. Shami was imprisoned in the Abyssal Layer, Wells of Darkness. However Red warns the party they will need to negotiate with the Demon Lord Ahazu whom rules that layer, as the prison is not merely a physical place. She offers them the tooth of Ahazu for a small price, which the party accept.
They arrived at the Wells Of Darkness. It was soon discovered that the "wells" were some sort of portal prison and that they could communicate with the denizen of each well. Shami-Amourae was soon found, but refused to help unless she was released. After a lot of fights, the party reach Ahazu's ruined fortress, which is thought to be abandoned until James is magically compelled to complete a broken mosaic. This opens up a portal from which four varragon Liches and 2 swarms of Abyssal Ants emerge. After a fight, the sole remaining Lich surrenders and offers to aid, which the party cautiously accepts. Firstly the lich took them to the Library, where there were spellbooks to be had. Lia scooped those right up. Of course there were other nice pieces of treasure about, but the most significant was the minor artifact Demonomicon of Iggwilv.
Next the Lich took them to a big black pool, warning them that unlike the other Wells, this was an actual dimensional rift which could suck them in if they weren't careful. Sarajahn. anchored by James and Gandt(but mainly Gandt), managed to attract Ahazu's attention. After some serious bargaining, Ahazu agreed to give to them the means for Shami's release, in exchange for his tooth back and a demon of equal power to take her place.
Using the Demonomicon of Iggwilv, the party found the location of one such demon. One quick trip, and the party have a subdued demon. They go to Shami's well and exchange the demon. However in Savage Tide tradition something is wrong and Shami begins attacking the party. Lucillia has a moment of brilliance here when she notices some sort of snake protuding from Shami's neck, and realises it's controlling her. Bravely the little elf rushes forward and casts protection from evil on her. Shami regains her senses, rips the Chokesnake out of her, and rather grusomely dispatches it.
She then tells the party Demogorgon's plan. Apparently he has two personalities, which is unacceptable to him, so he has created the Savage Tide in order to use the energy from it so that one of his personalities can absorb the other. She advises the party to build an army with as many allies as they can.
However it appears Deniogorgon had one more trick. The course of the river styx was altered. Fortunately most of the party had some sort of way to fly and could carry those whom did not to safety. Shami took this moment to scram, as minons of Demogorgon appeared. After a difficult fight against demons and retrievers, the party was victorious! However in an clift-hanger ending to the chapter, the master of the Styx, an angry Charon appeared.

Chapter 11 - The Enemy of My Enemy...
The party make nice with Charon and manage to convince him they're not responsible for the diversion of the Styx. He conveniently swears vengeance on Demogorgon and asks the party their plans. Upon hearing their plans he suggest they seek out the witch Iggwilv as an ally. He also puts his mark on the Sea Wyvern. In a minor piece of business the party capture a demon of equal power to Shami and dump it in the well
Upon arriving in the witch's domain, the heroes were attacked by Iggwilv's apprentices and their servants. After what turned out to be an easy battle, Sarajahn and Gandt "persuaded" the sole survivor to set up an appointment with Iggwilv. The apprentice warned them to wear something nice.
At this point Sarajahn takes control and takes them clothes shopping. The psrty is now well dressed, though Gandt is unhappy with what Sarajahn got him to wear.
The meeting goes well and the legendary witch agrees to help. She suggests approaching the Demon Lord Orcus and the Eladrin Lord Gwynharwyf first, giving them a note to take to Orcus.
The party go to Thanatos first, to recruit Orcus. Iggwilv's letter gets them priority and they get to meet Orcus, whom decides to test their worth in the arena. The fight with the Death Giants proves to be easy for the party, especially since they are of strong will and Gandt is immune to fear. After the display of power from the party, Orcus pledges his aid.
Next it was off to the Court of Stars. On the way there they are challenged to one of these activities, wrestling, jousting, or a steeple chase by an arrogant Eladrin. Gandt takes him on at wrestling and a few seconds later the Eladrin begs for mercy. The shamed loser takes them directly to the Court and then slinks off.
The Queen, after some fine diplomancy double-teaming from Lucilla and Sarajahn, agrees to pledge a force led by Gwynharwyf, if the party kills Redfang, a dread linnorm that had been snacking on visitors to the court. The party agrees. After some spellcasting from Lucilla and Lia, melee from Gandt and some sword and sorcery from James and Sarajahn, the Linnnorm dies. The Queen allies with the party, and Gandt gets to meet his hero Gwynharwyf.
Back on ship, it's suggested that Malcanthet, Queen of the Succubi, might be a willing ally. Infiltrating the city of Miomanta on the 570th layer of the Abyss, the party passed various orgies and torturings on the way to the succubus Malcanthet. Lucillia is noticeably ill at ease here, and it takes a talk with James to get her to continue. Malcanthet, when the party encounter her, agrees to help if the party brings her a Radiant Sister succubus named Crimson. These are succubus that profane the prime material plane gods. That isn't all Malcanthet does. She seals the deal by passionately kissing James, which leaves him with a tattoo.
With the tattoo the demons of this plane are a lot more friendlier and helpful, they soon find the place where Crimson lives. She isn't there, but vampires disguised as clerics of Pelor sadly are. Sarajahn casts Cursed Weapon and the wounds he causes are unaffected by the fast healing normally enjoyed by the vamps. Gandt acts as a meatgrinder, Lia blasts with spells, James flanks with Sarajahn, and Lucilla buffs and heals. The vamps are soon destroyed. Crimson arrives back, then tries to run but is soon subjued and taken back to the Palace where Malcanthet tortures and murders her in front of the party. At this point Lucillia threatens to leave the party, and it takes a lot of talking from Sarajahn, James and the rest of party to continue.
Iggwilv gets in touch and says that an aspect of Demogorgon, named Bagromar, might be willing to betray him. The group gets in touch with him magically and he agrees to a meet in his camp. The heroes arrive and realise they haven't actually spoken with Bagromar, but someone who's been intercepting his messages, and they have walked into a demon ambush. However it is the demons whom are unprepared for the heroes, and the evil horde is soon slain.
The real Bagromar is located, and whilst he is open to the idea of betraying Demogorgon, it takes a lot of convincing from Sarajahn that the group is mighty to take on the demon lord and that they have sufficient forces to take on his army. Finally he agrees, and the last piece falls into place to take on Demogorgon.
