Hope everyone had a nice holiday. :) We had Christmas with our family and it was quite nice. :) Ron was thrilled that I got him Pokemon Sun and Moon so he and the kids were checking it out together. :)

My hard drive died. It was a Samsung 840 EVO 500GB.
It was having performance problems it didn't in the past, so I decided to try to do something about it.
I bought Acronis True Image which I don't recommend. My main problem is the restore operation was very slow. It took 30 min to backup 80GB but 8 hours to restore that backup. Also their recovery media builder tool doesn't work... you need to follow instructions on their support site to make it which is less than ideal.

So I finished making the backup.
Then I installed the Samsung Magician tool and updated the firmware, but the firmware update failed. The drive hasn't worked right ever since.
I will buy a new drive, install Windows and then try to restore some of the backup I made, mostly the "My Documents" folder. Partial restore is supported but who knows how well it will actually work.
For backups, I'll recommend you not even use backup software to back it up the stuff in your "My Documents" folder. All you really need is a ZIP or file compression utility and some form of online storage like Google Drive, or even just a regular hard drive.

Back from New Hampshire. It snowed. :( At least I didn't wreck the rental car.

Glad you made it home okay. :) Our weather can't make up its mind. It rained, snowed, hailed, rained some more, then the sun came out for a bit, and then more rain. The one consistent thing is that it's really cold which makes me glad I'm home and have nowhere to go today. :)

    Thanks, Raina.

Weather's a bit odd here, too. Yesterday the high was 70, with clear skies. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be in the 40's. That's a North Carolina winter in a nutshell. I actually took a day off work in order to do some outside work at home, because it seems like these occasional nice days in the winter never fall on the weekend.

Never look up symptoms online .... it always seems to think I'm dying (current is cough for 5 weeks [had 2 different colds and still coughing up phlem] and a pain in my chest over my lung) this time it's lung cancer. Last time it was colon cancer. However will go to the docs on Friday after work to get a chest xray to see how much damaged this wrought to my already beat up lungs

The PS4 4.50 firmware update is out today. There are a lot of features for end-users in this update compared to the previous version.

4.50 has the wallpaper feature where you can set a screenshot that you took as your wallpaper. So if there's a scene you think looks really cool... BLAM! it's your wallpaper. It's not the greatest feature ever but it's the little things, I'm telling you. You can set an arbitrary image as your wallpaper, too. The procedure goes like this:

It's recommended to use a 1080p image or if you have both PS4 Pro and a UHD TV, a 2160p image.
    1) Upload the image you want to your favorite image sharing service.
    2) Navigate to that image on the browser
    3) Take screenshot
    4) Set as wallpaper

So tomorrow is April Fool's day? Another day spent trying not to fall for it. Maybe I'll just sleep in.

Inspired by the FFXIV costumes at Wrestlemania I began hoping someone would come out in a Persona outfit.

Then Wrestlemania became as long as a Persona game.

Well, I avoided all human contact on Saturday, because I was playing the latest Tales game. Best April Fool's Day ever.

I wanted Valkyria Revolution to be good, but it seems people are saying bad things about it.
32/40 from Famitsu which is a good score (36 or higher is great).
I'll be waiting for reviews on this one.
  • ACPACP A Crustacean in a Pot Full Members
Same here. I like the first Valkyria game so hard. But I didn't follow the series when it moved to handhelds, and I'd like some more console goodness.

Yeah, first one was good. This one from all the stuff I'm hearing is not so good. I guess I'll wait a while. I have a stack of games in my backlog to play anyway.

    Today is going to suck.

Yesterday there was a power outage in the area my work is in. So we were down for nearly 4 hours. Since we're medical Lab can't leave early which means we couldn't do much and I was one of the few peoples who's system was working some what. Stayed an hour and a half late last night going in early to help play catch up and may have to stay late again tonight.

Yes, yes it did. DIdn't have to stay late, but it was still a really bad day.

Now a week later, I just posted my first YouTube Video. But it's under my Pseudoname of the TheMighty TAM (since there is a Youtuber already named TheAnimeMan)

Vocaloids, eh? I used to have interest in the software, but the price was a turnoff. C'est la vie. I'll try to give your vid a watch when I get home from work, if I can remember for that long. Things - even fun stuff like this - have a tendency to slip away from me as soon as I walk into the house.

Yeah wrong one, the vids are under my Google account which use my actual name Robert Albright. I'll have to see about merging them

    /long-suffering sigh.

I'm in the process of moving my pics from Photobucket to Imgur. It seems Photobucket is becoming a pain in the tail. I saw the extortion pic on someone's sig on another board a few days ago. And I did a update on the newbie guide (there's a list of pic hosters on there) for this very reason.

If they're going to charge $500 USD for hotlinking, then they don't deserve any more use from me.

Well, that is unfortunate. Guess I'll have to follow suit, although I don't have too many pictures at stake these days. Still, it's a pain, for sure. Bleh.

    I knowwww. It really sucks.

BTW, I'm working on a MAJOR update to the newbie guide. Clix has been helping me by being a guinea pig on the pics since I have a RAWRHUUUGE tv as my computer screen.

If you wanna check progress, click on the link in my sig and let me know if they're too wide (Scrolling from side to side is for the BIRRRRDS!) and let me know if there's anything I need to add. You can say the Photobucket mess had one good thing about it; it lit a fire under my bum to finally get that fixed!

    Heh. Bum fires.

Well, I did a rapid click-through to the various pages of your guide, and I don't see any problems with the width (no side scrolling required). I'll try to remember to do a deep dive on the content later...

After our 16 year old jack russell terrier Sport passed away we mourned for quite a while. We'd had him since he was a puppy. After some time we decided to get a new dog. We adopted a very sweet jack russell terrier mix from the SPCA and named him Jake. He's usually a very good boy, but right now I'm working with him on why hopping on the coffee table like a little mountain goat is a no no. He just gets excited and forgets sometimes, so he'll hop on there or run across, but we're getting there. :)
