Square Enix event January 18

For those of us who continue to optimistically endure mounting disappointment, the event is titled "Square Enix 1st Production Department Premiere". '1st Production Department' is corporate code for the team who brought us Final Fantasy X, X-2, XIII and the Fabula brand, Dissidia, the Kingdom Hearts series, and everything having to do with FFVII aside from the original ps1 game.

Considering the URL is a sub-directory of /fabula, i.e., Fabula Nova Crystallis, and considering アギトXIII and ヴェルサスXIII (Agito and Versus, respectively) is mentioned on the page, we'll obviously be hearing something about the two elusive projects. Whether it will be something substantive is altogether another matter.

Furthermore, Kotaku reports the European trademarking of "Final Fantasy Type-0".

Cryptic trademarks and announcements of announcements? I would have never expected such a thing from Square Enix.

The original focus of the event was Fabula related. I think they decided to cram more stuff in after their forecast for the fiscal year went down significantly. It's timed between the two Nintendo 3DS events so I hope we'll be hearing about KH 3D.
So long & thanks for all the fish!

The potential for Squenix and the 3DS has me giddy, but my confidence in them makes me feel they will screw it up and totally underwhelm me.
"Back when FF9 was coming out. People were rejoicing because it was actually a fantasy game and not a sci-fi game like 7 and 8. It's hilarious in modern context, with everyone wanking themselves to dehydration at the thought of a FF7 remake."
