The Races of Wizardry Are Revealed

The list of races in Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls happens to include elves and dwarves. We all expected that. You might not be expecting male "dwarves" to be the tallest characters in the game, though.

I think they're the ones with the unicorn horns?

Actually, the one with the unicorn horn is a gnome. The porklu is the kid with the crystal on his forehead. A halfling-type race would be my best guess for the porklu, based on the press release.

Porklu = Crystal-hobbits? Weird. Can't wait for a new Wizardry title, just the same.

    So, to recap, we have:
    Humans
    Humans with pointy ears
    Humans with a horn
    Short humans
    Short humans with dark skin

I'm kinda interested in the game, but the classic Wizardry games had way cooler races.

    Agreed

Human, Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, and Hobbit were way cooler and more original than whatever this crowd is

Well maybe they're referring to the art-style that makes them all look basically human? Or maybe they're considering 6-7-8 classic Wizardry, in which case Faeries, Mooks, Rawulfs, Felpurrs, Lizardmen, and Dracons are in the mix.

On an unrelated note, I'm in SA too. So, that's nifty.

Yeah, I'm referring specifically to the art style -- you could have shown me the artwork and told me that they were all human (except maybe the elf) and I would've believed it. By "classic" I'm referring to any of the ones developed by Sir-Tech; even if the first few had the standard set of fantasy races, at least they had some visually distinctive features.

Yes, but this game is obviously catering to people like me, who like old school dungeon crawlers but hate ugly characters. I liked old school ADnD gold box where the character were just a collection of 32 pixels or so (if that). Once they "upgraded" the graphics with games like Dark Queen of Krynn.. well I didn't play those ones because none of the character looked the way I liked. That same went for many might and magic and the eye of the beholder games. I simply had no emotional attachment to this limited variety of ugly people that had been supplied to me, and could not get into the game. They were neither "my" character made from a collection of vague open to interpretation pixels, nor were they character created by other people that I liked or wanted to like.
I miss my old prettiful sig.

Hmm. This pic invites the player to use a Growth Fruit and notes that it requires access to the Playstation Network. Looks like microtransactions are in.
