Wakfu Impressions - E3 2011

Wakfu sounds like some odd form of martial arts, but is actually a very original tactical MMORPG. Learn about trackers, politics, and all sorts of stuff here.

Not sure... Dofus, the other MMO by this company, is technically F2P but is really more of a subscription-based MMO with a limited trial. I don't think they've released full details of their payment plan/s for Wakfu yet.

I won't touch it if it's not F2P, mostly because I do not have a steady amount of money coming into my hands. So P2P is out of the question.

Funny you feel that way about Dofus, too. I asked Ankama about revenue models for Wakfu back in 2009 (see 2nd question). I shared my experience that Dofus was more of a trial in the question, and they disagreed.

Anyway, related to Wakfu, Ankama told me:
[Quote=Ankama]We’re looking to do the something similar with Wakfu. We want people to be able to enjoy the game without absolutely having to pay.

I've been in the Wafku closed beta for a couple months, and I've played Dofus... Ankama, in my opinion, makes incredibly charming games. They have a lot of flavor, the style is bright and fun, and their sense of humor is a bit on the twisted side. Anything by them is worth looking at.

Dofus stands as the only MMO that has ever got its hooks into me enough to warrant a paid subscription, so I'm fairly interested in Wakfu.
