If you were told that the Diablo III Collector's Edition contained a demon skull would you be the least bit surprised? If anything, we should all be more surprised that hell has frozen over because Diablo III will actually be out soon.

I want this. How diabolical is Blizzard's DRM?

Just waiting for Amazon to start accepting pre-orders. Looks about the same as the SCII CE which was a crazy amount of value for a $20 upcharge. No brainer this time either.

Persistent online connection for Diablo III. No offline play is currently planned. There was an article and discussion about this a month or two ago.

If you don't like that then I suggest looking into Torchlight.
So long & thanks for all the fish!

If you didn't preorder it yet, you probably won't get the chance. Amazon's pulled the pre-order button. You could do it during Blizzcon, but no more.

Odd. I looked less than 30 minutes ago and it was still there for $99 (ok that's a speculative hike from the SC2 CE price... :\)

    EDIT: annnndddd... pre-ordered
So long & thanks for all the fish!

It wasn't up at all on .ca over the weekend (not that I could find anyway) but looks like the button is back on .com, so celebration.

The deal for getting Diablo 3 for free in return to a year commitment to WoW is pretty sweet, too.

Definitely an excellent deal for anybody who was going to be playing WoW anyway. :)

An excellent deal assuming you have an active sub at the time of purchase, all expansions, merged your account with Battle.net, are paying with your credit card, and have met with all of these requirements prior to Oct. 18th (according to their FAQ); otherwise, you're out of luck. Even if you do qualify, it's $90 or so worth of dead time between expansions, with maybe a month or two of 4.3, for a game that should sell for $60 or so.

Not disagreeing with anybody, I'm just providing a reality check.

I always get the collectors editions for blizzard games, they are the only physical versions of PC games I buy anymore

TG, in my case, as someone who casually plays WoW, I can view it as a way to get access to it and also get Diablo 3, for cheaper than I'd get them separately. It's definitely not for everyone, but it does have a certain appeal to it.

It's one of my treasured possessions. Still think about playing the cheesy D&D game that came with it from time to time.

Yeah, I actually pre-ordered it at BlizzCon.

I also really like the fact that if you buy the CE and sign up for the WoW annual pass you get 4 months of WoW time for free. So you still get $60 of value and are really only paying for the extras in the CE.

For me I really like that skull with the soulstone usb, I wonder why it only has Diablo 2 on it and not the original as well?

Blizzard stopped selling Diablo 1 a while ago. They even went as far to remove it from the Diablo Battle Chest. I guess its so old they just dont support it anymore.

And yeah that statue/usb holder and soulstone are pretty awesome.

D1 still runs on Vista/7 but you need a directdraw dll hack to get it not be garbled. Warcraft 2 and Starcraft's menus have the same problem. D1 and War2 never received official no-cd patches either so I agree it's probably they don't support either game now.

As long as I only have to be connected when playing, I can live with that.

You didn't hear? In order to play Diablo III, you must first report to your local Gamestop to have a Blizzard-branded RFID chip implanted subdermally.

Thankfully I pre-ordered through Amazon so my RFID chip gets sent in the mail so I can perform the surgery myself.
