I felt I had to stop the recording each time, just look up videos to hear the bad voice acting (using the youtube on the internets ;)) and they really were quite bad, so I'm glad I hadn't played those games.

Oh and I wonder if Roy recalls the "funny thing" that he had to remember to edit out, because funny enough he forgot. Whoops!

For those interested, here is a sampling of Shining Force III's voice acting. :P

Eggs.... I sure hope that's not really what that game sounds like... That sounds like something the RPGamer staff put together for a Backtrack skit...

Each and every one of those is actually from the game, and plenty of contenders were left out (the vandal proclaiming "behold my powers" in the fashion of a really bored office worker with bizarre inflections is one of my favorites). Made me glad in Scenario 3 to hear the original Japanese cast.
It's not what he's eating, but what's eating him that makes it ... sort of interesting.

Ay ay ay, they'd have been better off hiring a high school drama club.

The theory is that the local janitors of Sega were called in to do one-take performances. It seems to fit.

Janitors would have done a better job than that. That was freaking horrific. I also watched a Chaos Wars clip. I don't recommend searching for it unless you're dead set on experiencing some pain. Unfreakingbelievable!

A comment on a Shining Force III "Worst Of" Youtube video mentioned that Sega used game testers to record the voice clips. Sounds possible to me.
