It would not be unreasonable to suggest that this new Fire Emblem game is amongst our readership's most anticipated first quarter releases. Go wild, folks: watch the video, then go download the demo from the 3DS eShop.

The demo, which sadly I have played even though I knew it would basically drive me batty, shows some of the story bits from the opening of the game and has 2 maps to play. It's pretty fun, which I expected anyway, just now I have to live with the knowledge I won't have the game for a good while yet.

But if you're curious about the game, the demo is pretty cool. Just don't mind the fact that no one has feet.

Heh, that's the main thing I took away from the initial announcement videos, although I've got over it now fortunately. We have to wait two months extra so the demo's not available here yet but I guess that's a good thing for my patience.

I'm liking the upgrades to the support system, I just wish they would go into more detail on the Pair Up option.

I bet that the enemies units will also be able to pair up and cause you suffering.
Never buy a game published by D3 Publisher that is not WKCII. They cheated on their fans by releasing a game that they didn't support not even for a year and they released a rushed translation.

I love the new game, the character art and models and beautifully rendered. A day-one buy for me. I just wish the 3d on the 3ds didn't hurt my brain lol.

I have no depth perception... meaning sometimes 3d graphics can give me a headache.... I last 10 mins on the 3ds.... so no 3d for me.

Not that I care about that.... so I will play this game under normal graphics :)

Good news, you can turn off the 3D with the slider!

Yep I know... hence where I said I would play it under normal graphics. lol.

I was really disappointed with the 3ds... the 3d looks like a blurry mess. Probably not for everyone.... but they certainly did not take into consideration different forms of vision. Even with the graphics (3d) off.... it still has a weird blur. That being said I have no issue with 3d graphics in hollywood movies. The 3ds 3d is like old school red/green glasses 3d... as that type also gave me headaches.

So yeah, thankfully it can be turned off... but that defeats the perk of having 3d.

That's what happens with me. My friends get headaches from the 3D as well. Overall I think they made a major mistake when selling the system as 3D. They could have easily just called it something else and stated it had the graphical power of a Gamecube under the hood. That would have been enough to grab many people.

Ditto as well. Some games do look amazing (Zelda) but I hate having to hold it ....just....so.... so that the 3D works and doesn't turn into a blurry mess. I find the way I have to hold it awkward, so I tend to have 3D for cutscenes and turn it off otherwise. And even then, the slider is only on SLIGHTLY or I get headaches.

3D is just a gimmick.... it doesn't WORK for everyone.

I've never really been a huge fan of this series but I am getting this game. Not that there are too many 3DS RPGs right now anyway.

Alright. So here's the opinion of someone who can actually see 3D and appreciate it, as opposed to someone who CANNOT see it and dislike it for that reason.

The 3D in Awakening is really well done and is put to good use by separating the layers of the menus and the actual battle map. For me, it makes everything seem "bigger" and really makes the numerous HUD elements stand out so that they don't interfere too much with the map. There are a lot of "little" things here and there, like the sunlight particles in the title screen (beautiful), and the way buildings and smoke really seem to rise up because of the angle of the camera. These subtle touches bring it to life, and quite honestly, it magnified my appreciation for the graphics a lot. And I'm really sorry many of you don't see that.

    Oh well.

I think you're dead wrong mister. Nintendo doesn't want to grab many people. They want to grab EVERYONE. To do that, you need something exceptional so that people will at least talk about it and spread the word. It doesn't even need to be 3D. A mere more powerful DS would not turn heads. It would be a laze job.
