Like a houseguest that just won't leave, the Final Fantasy XIII series has become background noise in the world of RPG coverage. Just when you think it might be gone, there's that battle theme playing in a new trailer.

Love the new screens. Why do I have a feeling that girl who looks like Serah is in fact Etro?

My speculation is that she is some form of Sarah akin to the Yule essence that existed outside of time.

Now that I'm done with 13-2 I really can't wait for LR.

I probably asked this somewhere before, but lost track of the threads, so I apologize if you've already answered this for me :)...

...are any of the 13-2 DLC required to get some sort of "true" ending (leading in to 13-3), or are they just extra mid-game narrative?

(I only played 13-2 right when it came out - got the, presumably, basic ending; wasn't thrilled by the "where the hell do I go now?" of the uber-nonlinearity; and didn't bother trying to get all the paradoxes/etc. Sold it back pretty quick. :/ )

Requiem of the Goddess leads into what eventually starts Lightning Returns, so that one is important (plus it unlocks Lightning herself for use in the main game, and you can do this DLC the second you access the Historia Crux). And the DLC with Sazh explains both how he got to that one time period during the finale, and what happened to him after he 'disappeared' (this too can be done the second you access the Historia Crux).
