edited February 2013 in Latest Updates
XSEED just announced the company's 2013 lineup. It includes two RPGs for PlayStation Vita, one for Nintendo 3DS, one for Steam, and a little action game. All of these join Pandora's Tower for a massive 2013 for the company.

Come Fall getting a Vita will be an Ysy purchase.

Granted, not the only game I'd get for it, but enough to make me buy one.

I'm happy to see Rune Factory back in XSEED's hands. The company did a fantastic job with RF: Frontier, and Natsume has done some pretty sloppy localization jobs lately, especially with RF: Tides of Destiny. Now I'm super-jazzed for RF 4!

I expected Ys Celceta would come but nice to finally have a confirmation. Along with this, Soul Sacrifice, and Muramasamy Vita will be happy this year.
I'll also buy Ys I & II Chronicles+ of course, haven't played my PSP version yet which I may just keep sealed now. Will look into Killer Is Dead, Grasshopper are talented but I haven't enjoyed everything they produce. Same goes for Valhalla Knights 3, I hear it looks better than the other games in the series. Now I'll have to pay attention since it's been announced. As for Rune Factory, I have 2 and Tides unplayed, I will make sure to at least try both before 4 comes out.

Sadly there's no TiTS SC here. Oh well. Glad to see the rest of you really enjoy the announcements, and now the VITA has at least one exclusive that I'd buy. Still needs more to warrant a system purchase, but I know I'll be jealous later this year when you guys are enjoying Celceta.

Agreed. It’s like watching everyone else get what they want for Christmas while you get a labelmaker.

Happy for others, and glad XSEED is delivering games folks want, but I’m worried the Trails window is closing if it’s not happening in 2013.

Too many Legend of Heroes games for Xseed to catch up... And now we have this:

Never buy a game published by D3 Publisher that is not WKCII. They cheated on their fans by releasing a game that they didn't support not even for a year and they released a rushed translation.

I knew Celceta was a shoe-in, but also a Steam port of Ys 1+2? Oh XSeed, you know just how to butter me up. Just get me a port of Ys VI: Ark of Napishtim, and then you will have my marriage proposal.

Xseed, Atlus and NISA are the only Publishers that I only trust. Xseed is surely the best and I'm glad that they had become the main Publisher of Nihon Falcom.

I bought a Vita a little while back, mainly to play Persona 4 and Disgaea 3 (2 games I own on other consoles that just seem better suited to portable systems), and resigned myself to hope for more RPGs in the near future. Looks like that is starting to happen, with this and the recent Muramasa announcement. Very welcome news.

I bought a Vita back during Amazon's Thanksgiving weekend sale purely because I was betting on Celceta, and now I'm satisfied.

But I might pick up Muramasa, too, depending on how much they decide to charge for the DLC.

Well at this point assuming all these Ys games on steam are doing well for them I'd be surprised if they didn't bring Ys VI to steam.

I couldn't disagree with this statement more. This is Falcom, they of the many ports and re-releases. For all we know they could be working on getting TitS games on steam, and the presence of PS3 ports provides yet another possibility. With steam especially there's no real "closing window". So don't give up!

A plethora of port possibilities for sure, but not much help without an English script. If XSEED has some kind of formula for text amount vs. sales estimate, it doesn’t bode well...I just hope they're far enough along to be pot committed. And I don't know what to make of the Aeria/iOS situation.

I’m not giving up yet, just less optimistic than I was before these announcements for fear resource allocation may be trailing off...

    I don't think they can.
I know Wyrdwad mentioned something about not being able to use the localization Konami did, and they wouldn't be able to do their own translations of it.
Same with The Legend of Heroes games that Namco Bandai did for PSP.

Yup. It would be too much work for a old port of Ys VI and the PC versions of the Gagharv trilogy are night and day different from the PSP versions that even if they wanted to use Namco Bandai's awful localizations it wouldn't be worth it.

I would do ANYTHING for a PC version of Napishtim. Then again, I played through the horrible PSP version, and I'd do anything to avoid playing through that one again.

wat. The PSP version was great! The only real problem with it was the loading times, which weren't all that long.

It lagged horribly and there were constant frame skips. I had to force myself to play through it.

Actually, I said quite the opposite! There's no real reason we COULDN'T use Konami's translation -- unless they just refused to sell it to us or something. ;)

And I'm not really sure why we wouldn't be able to do our own translation, either. That's... always an option, isn't it?

I'd love to see it happen, personally. The game is great, and would be the perfect cap to the Steam set.

My bad, I thought you mentioned something to that effect, or was it just for the Gagharv Trilogy?
Or I could just be lost and confused in familiar recruitment mode regarding NNK.
It would be swell anyways to have an XSEED translation of The Ark of Napishtim.

Looking into my crystal ball, I see a remake of Ys 5 in the future and XSEED localizing that. That's probably the best route.

As for the HD versions/PS3 version of Trials on the Sky FC/SC no chance of a localization until after the games get ported to the PSP/Steam first.

But by then the PS3 itself will become a obsolete system in North America.

Not sure what you mean. There's no reason they couldn't do the PS3 versions first if they so desired. Besides, regardless of a PS4 coming out the PS3 will be around for awhile yet.
