Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn - RPGamer Community
Comments
Congrats! It's okay if you don't hate the look as much as I do, and I forgot about the minion, though I was in an exaggerating mood anyway.
I was thinking that if Stormblood starts at the same relative item level to HW that HW did to ARR, then the relic and melded 270 gear could hold up through half of the expansion easily.
I might do a news post tomorrow but because it was so goddam long here's my notes from the Letter from the Producer regarding Stormblood. Note: I probably got bored and missed various things during it. It was really -ing long.
Current Issues
- Overly complex
- Too many actions, not enough hotbar space
- Overemphasis on status icon management
- Core vs. casual disparity (DPS)
- Lack of synergy between jobs
Additional Actions
- Abolishing Additional Actions
- Replacing with Role Actions (shared between roles: Tank, Healer, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, Caster), some new/changed/renamed/removed - if removed they will be greyed-out on hotbar
- No secondary class levels required for jobs (e.g. Paladin does not need lvl 15 Conjurer)
Healer damage calculation uses MND now (used to be INT) - effect of Cleric Stance will be changed
Job syngery - Balance to make melee DPS a bit more party-focused (Monk can raise party's physical damage and can gain some chakra if ally does something good, add debuffs for combos, pulled back some of the more overpowered combos).
Job gauges (HUD)
- New HUDs specialised for each job's unique actions
- Increased stance visibility, emphasis on visual rather than numerical clues.
- Hopefully remove extreme DPS disparity
Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSdfPXFGuw0&feature=youtu.be
Red Mage is Zorro.
Bard has no casting.
Machinist has a heat gauge, attack while moving.
Summoner has Bahamut.
Job Action Adjustments
- Removal of unused/underused actions
- Automatic replacement of upgraded spells, only use one slot to cast all of them, auto-chooses version based on lvl/synced lvl.
- AoE and single-target kept separate (i.e. Thunder & Thunder III in one, Thunder II & Thunder IV in another)
Total # of actions in 4.0 should be equal to or less than those in 3.0
Paladin can block magic attacks with shield
Sub-attributes
Bard + Machinist no longer have cast gauges (caused big disparity between casuals and hardcore players)
Parry no longer on gear for tanks, replaced by new attribute called Tenacity (raises damage caused and lowers damage taken), Parry attribute still used in calc.
Accuracy no longer on gear. Same level char + same level monster, head-on attack and no statuses will be 100% accuracy.
Direct hit, somewhere between normal hit and critical hit? Can do both direct and critical in same attack.
Piety to become sub-attribute, I was bored here and missed what that actually means and most of the stuff that came after.
Something about accessories.
Some other stuff I wasn't paying attention to, seemed boring.

PvP Changes
Issues (I don't know what half of these mean):
- Level restriction too high
- Too many job actions
- PvP not equal to PvE, makes balance hard
- Action point disparity
- Overly complex controls
Changes:
- Level restriction removal (any job, 30+)
- Attributes determined by role, gear affects appearance only
- PvP hotbars for each job
- All PvP actions now PvP-specific (9 per job, 2 selectable, Adrenaline Rush); Allows to adjust w/o affecting PvE balance.
- Direction requirements for melee DPS removed
- Consolidated combos free up hotbar space
PvP demonstration video I didn't pay attention to.

befriend (v.): to use mecha-class beam weaponry to inflict grievous bodily harm on a target in the process of proving the validity of your belief system.
On a side note, apparently, I'll be away on a trip and not playing Stormblood until after its early access and June 20th launch. However, I look forward to seeing everyone ingame when I return! It's a good thing Shirogane housing plots won't open up for purchase until a bit later than launch. I'd hate to miss that.
Was worried about having enough time to regear, but it looks like I have enough gil to save up to just buy an ilvl 250 set for both my main and fisher, with change to spare. Not sure if I'll spend the cash on fisher, since I doubt I'll be able to really get into the new stuff before Stormblood launches.
im likely not coming back but I would like to use the discord can anyone pm me a link so i can talk to you all again. perhaps it may help bring me back.

Depends on how you want to play it. It's a open game with hundreds of hours of optional things to do. My personal mindset is to do whatever seems fun regardless of whether you're pushing the main story forward or not. The 2.0 storyline is happy to send you back and forth across the world for little-to-no logical story reasons, solely to encourage you to take it easy and goof off with optional stuff. Some people want to try different jobs early on; some don't. Same with crafting, side quests, etc.
On the other hand, if you want to make as much progress as possible as quickly as possible, no, there's no real point in doing more than the main story. Further, rushing the main story will make doing optional stuff much less time-consuming later if you want to go back to it. It just depends on what you're trying to get out of the game. Rushing the story is the most practical, but probably the least fun, way to play it.

Hopefully, most of the isues will be resolved over he coming days. Until then, from what I've read, those who can't progress may as well zoom to 70 via frontlines since it's apparently highly efficient.

I'm going to consider carefully after I do some crafting if I want to level anything else. Maybe RDM after the furor dies down.
