RPG Backtrack: Episode 128 - House of the Devil

It's time once again to venture into the vast Megami Tensei universe. This particular grouping involves tactical maneuvers of people and their demons summoned through portable electronics, with time ticking down on the life of everyone encountered.
Where do they go after death? Good question!
It's not what he's eating, but what's eating him that makes it ... sort of interesting.

Apparently an eight month gap between appearances on the Backtrack means I get an unwanted amount of attention. :P
Just kidding guys. Well, mostly. I'm still glad this isn't a video podcast

On a different note, I made a very brief comparison between the first Devil Survivor and The World Ends With You. I figured I would show off this bit of fan art I found: http://i3.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/610/926/690.jpg

Nothing like a new backtrack episode to sit down with a nice cup of tea =-D
I beat Persona 1 and 2. Please help me justify the countless hours lost.

Break Record finally came out of limbo a few days after we recorded this.

Clearly Strawberry Eggs on the backtrack creates good luck.

Looks like RPG Prediction Cast is back again. We still need to wait on news of localization, though (more a case of when than if, I hope).

*Finishes listening to show* --> Alright, so skip out on Devil Survivor Overclocked and grab Mugen Souls.

Thanks for the tips Mr. Apps!

It's not going to be right away according to John Hardin on the Twitter, but I could see an announcement for a summer 2015 US/EU release after Persona Q launches. That will give me an excuse to actually finish Overclocked, which I think I've started five or six times but never got past the third day. :3

Mugen Souls 2 wasn't so bad... as long as you could stop playing whenever you felt like it. I sure wouldn't want to have to complete the game. ;)

Exactly my point. Give Cassandra the reigns and only good things can happen.

Great show. I really liked this game. I thought ...amazing a game with real character development, and not afraid to show negative mental problems. The timer on the characters' heads gave it such tension. The scramble for limited resources and human tragedies develop the characters. It is a real crucible.
In fact I had ot play it in small doses, it's pretty heavy at times.
I don't want to delve into the metaphysical an philosophical questions posed by the interactions betwen those summonings and humans etc. but it's interesting and it's there.
I didn't finish the game but I got to the final boss kinda area. But I still enjoyed the game. Yes the difficulty spikes got me, I grinded a bit then gave up.
Yep I'm going read the other article on the new £DS version now :p

You folks mentioned this in passing, but I'd just like to emphasize that players who switch between characters on their first playthrough of Code of Princess will be punished with forced grinding. Levels (and to a lesser extent, equipment) are just too important, especially for escort missions, where the only way to keep suicidal NPCs alive is to exterminate enemies as fast as possible.

There is one stage (survive vs. dragons) that can be used to quickly grind low level characters, but it isn't unlocked until late in the game.

Code of Princess is still pretty fun, if rather short.

Hey guys! Great show. I've got three questions for y'all this time.

I'll stick Overclocked on my backlog. I think my wife played some of the first one, back in the day; I remember she liked it, and said that it really had a feel different from other games she had on the DS at the time.
