Well, looks like Overwatch will be the most popular game on presentation alone because it looks great. Also, it plays more like a competitive shooter than all that LoL rip-off crap. Sure wish it had a campaign though. Like Titanfall, you see all this awesome stuff in the background and wish to know what's going on.

Someone may have been a bit too excited about those early Battleborn reviews...

Hey, I just need to score over 70 with one version of the game to put this competition out of reach, and those PC reviews are still quite high. Some of those PS4 reviews don't make any sense. Little content? The game has a campaign for crying out loud whereas Overwatch doesn't and is removing game modes besides.

From a pure game vs. game standpoint, I don't really care. Battleborn didn't really have any RPG elements and Overwatch's aiming controls on the PS4 feel awfully loose (Battleborn was actually better in that regard). Uncharted 4's multiplayer is still my multiplayer of choice right now.

Although I'm well in my rights to do so today since it's been a week, I'm not going to record Battleborn's 78score today, which would put the win squarely in my lap. Instead, I'll let it slide for another week. Just to be a good sport.

Don't forget I can't actually win. I would be the highest scorer, but that's it.

So if you win does that mean no one wins and we all lost?

If so that is some funny donkey

As I've said many times before, including my last post: I'm not eligible. I'm just participating. You're still the frontrunner.

Oh I must have misudnerstood (not that I care about being front runner) I just think it'd be funny if we technically all lost :D

DOOM is still quiet, but its reader reviews are in the 77 range.

They didn't send review codes for that one until it went live. Thankfully, we should start seeing reviews early next week.

Also, I chose wisely to sub Tokyo Mirage Sessions: the magic date on that one appears to be June 22, so it's up for next season.

Since there is a good possibility of it happening this year, here's how I determine tie breakers:

-In the event of a tie, the player with the highest scored game between the two breaks the tie.
-If both players are still tied, the next highest scored game between the two breaks the tie.
-If necessary, this continues until the tie is broken.
-In the bizarre event that the tie remains intact across all chosen games, meaning both players scored exactly the same score with every game chosen, then the player who chose the highest scored game FIRST breaks the tie.
-In the absolutely bonkers case that there is STILL a tie by this point...then you should start questionning reality or something, because that's just nuts.
-Seriously though, if that were to happen, I'd run through the games again, but this time the scores would be chosen based on current Metacritic ratings or maybe Gamerankings ratings until I see a tie break. In other words, the tie breaker would be determined by how the best scored game holds up over time.

Uncharted 4 has been plotted at 93.

Scores starting to roll in for Doom finally, and it is currently at an 80 on PS4, where it has enough reviews to qualify. Decent, but not great. And likely not as good as Overwatch, which means I'll end up in 3rd.

Most sites classify a score of 80 as "great", or at least "very good".

Yeah, I was waiting on that, but it got another dozen or so reviews after it and the score didn't budge. Oh, well.

Btw, gave Battleborn another week. Recorded at 75. I win.

Well, I would win if I could. Still pretty close for those who actually can.

The Xboxers really like DOOM. It's got an 88 on that console and is only a few scores short of meeting the required minimum.

*86 now and at the minimum.

Might have to pick it up. Not a huge fan of DOOM but well it's one of those cult classic games things

Yeah, it's performing better than I expected. I felt like the game played like a low 80's deal. My only guess is the game's focus on old school style of shooting must be hitting all the right nostalgia notes.

    **Recording DOOM at 87.

Uh, anyone who's planning on making a last minute sub for Kirby Planet Robobobobo(etc)t should know that reviews are coming in roughly 40 hours.

Looking at the scoring averages...well, I don't have much faith in Mirror's Edge, but it might come down to a SINGLE point between Anime and Red. Just a few hours to go...

Crap. Mirror's Edge's release date is actually June 7th. That's really close to E3...
  • redwing42redwing42 Just Monika Full Members
So... ummm.... Overwatch is starting out with a 98. I'm sure it will come down some, but still, I'd like to congratulate my opponent in this race for second. It was a good fight.
  • TGBarighmTGBarighm Member Full Members
I wouldn't call it yet. The user reviews are quite low, so I'm sure there will be a fair number of content complainers that will drag the score down a good amount.

Yeah, but the user reviews have to probably due with content and comparing it to games that have been out for YEARS in the same genre (Team Fortress 2 I'm looking at you)

Honestly for a brand new IP there are a large of number of characters and they all have slightly different mechanics. That is a lot of content right there. Sure there maybe 12 maps but those maps are not small either.

Maybe so, but there are many day 1 games out there that provide far more content for $80.

    Not on PS4.

Not saying the game isn't worth it, but when people argue that the game isn't competitively priced compared to games like DOOM or Uncharted 4 which both feature very enjoyable multiplayer components along with a full campaign...they have a point.
  • TGBarighmTGBarighm Member Full Members
So...Shaymin would need to score a 98 to beat Anime now.

    Should I just call it?
  • ShayminShaymin The Gratitude Pokemon Halifax, New SealandFull Members
I mean, Mirror's Edge will be good, but not *that* good.

Yeah, but there will be no prize this year 'cause my monitor decided to die, so whether or not Anime actually ends up finishing first or what the overall draft order looks like doesn't really mean much this time around. I can always adjust things later.

I also really don't want to wait until just a few days before E3 to announce that I'm done running this game. Feels too much like work. Literally. Watching other peoples' assets for months at a time. Not really talking save for the odd update. Getting kind of dull. I would still play though.

Anyway, Overwatch recorded at 91. Anime wins (officially).

Pretty close competition this season. The quarterly picks certainly worked better than drafting all up front. Much less likely for a game to get delayed out of the window at that point. Thanks for running it again, TG. I know what a pain it is to track all this stuff.
