RPGamer's review of Aksys Games and Nihon Falcom's Tokyo Xanadu is still a bit of time away. For now though, readers can check out our reviewer's thoughts so far ahead of the game's release on Friday.

Falcom is one of the very few developers I inherently trust will produce a quality game to my tastes, so I'll be getting this one no question. Glad to hear it shares several traits with Cold Steel since I genuinely love this particular aesthetic presentation and style.

Unfortunately I'm going to be holding out for the PS4 version so it'll be awhile before I'm able to dive into it. Hopefully yall have good times playing it on the Vita soon!

Damn, and of all the things they could have changed from Cold Steel, they changed the one I liked the most, its combat system.

The Cold Steel comparisons are actually the bigger surprise here for me, since media I'd heard about this game before suggested it was far more Ys inspired. I guess I'm in the opposite boat (though I do love me some Cold Steel); I'm happy to see that the battle system has heavy Ys inspiration.
