Sega teasing Valkyria Chronicles Announcement

RebochanRebochan Who needs Rinoa anyway?Full Members

Along with Sakura Wars teasing, they're teasing another Valkyria Chronicles.

http://www.siliconera.com/2010/09/09/new-valkyria-chronicles-characters-deployed-on-official-blog/

I'll join the choir in hoping it's a PS3 game. The slow sales of the PSP version might encourage this. I'm hoping it's also more like the epic war drama of the first game and less of the high school drama of the second.

Sorry if it's offtopic, but is Valkyria Chronicles II worth buying?
I hope it comes out for either PS3, Xbox, or Wii. Any of those would be fine. There's just not enough at this point to discuss.

I would also be okay with more expansion packs. I thought the expansion packs were a little expensive, so I hope they increase the value.

Why do they not just do a campaign-length expansion pack to Valkyria Chronicles? I would welcome that as well.

I've been playing VCII and enjoying it quite a bit. The gameplay is just as addicting as the first game and there are a lot more things to do. But I'm still hoping for another PS3 iteration of the series. :)

Valkyria Chronicles II is really long, just like the RPGLand review said. Lots of filler missions, but the gameplay is still solid, at least in terms of combat. Don't expect much from the story, though.

I have yet to buy VCII. I want to play it but I'm busy playing Ys Seven right now. A sequel should be on the PS3 but I really don't think it's an easy sell either way.

The gameplay is mostly for the better, though the class-branching system has a few screws loose.

I've heard the story picks up, but it's mostly a school drama with the most cliche cast of characters ever.

See, this makes me worry that I will dislike the game.

I loved the first one so much and I'm almost willing to skip this one depending on if VCIII is announced for the PS3/360.

It would be interesting if they managed to pull of good multiplayer in VC3(if it is on PS3).

Sega knows their entire VC fanbase wants it on PS3. To put it on anything other is just....well, it'd show signs of severe brain damage amongst their staff. VC1 is one of the higher selling jrpgs this gen.

    I don't think VC1 sold well in the U.S.

Their best bet would probably be to add some sort of multiplayer to assist with sales since so many U.S. buyers are too into social gaming to play anything single player (lol).

DQ9 has experienced better sales from adding multiplayer for example.

VC1 sold pretty well in the US, though it was a slow burner and most of the sales came after they dropped the price.

I imagine, based on how PSP sales are at a record low in the US, that this will do even worse. Sega also not advertising the game and practically hiding from existance like their other RPGs will not help.

VCII does have multiplayer missions, co-op and versus.

As far as I know, VC sold the most in the US.

Yeah, Sega has done a terrible job with it.

No special editions, no pre-order deals, no ads... it's sad really.

    Gaijin: Crap, sorry :(

Nevega: Actually, if you pre-ordered through GameStop (not sure about others), you got a code for some bonus maps.

Don't get me wrong, I'm having lots of fun playing VC2, but it's not the whole package VC1 was.

I've sunk about seven hours into VCII. It is good, even as good as the first from a gameplay perspective, but the story is as cliche and trite as can be, and the PS3 was a far superior platform for the series. I doubt it, but I hope it does return to consoles.

Yeah but is that going to get people buying? Probably not.

I've noticed that the game isn't even being sold at most places, what a shame...

It may sound stupid but believe me or not I think Valkyria Chronicles would had sold more with trophies.
Never buy a game published by D3 Publisher that is not WKCII. They cheated on their fans by releasing a game that they didn't support not even for a year and they released a rushed translation.

It is stupid, because it is probably true. I have read countless posts on other forums mentioning that they would buy the game ONLY if it had trophies. Very stupid, and sad.

It's hard for me to wrap my head around anyone caring about virtual trophies.

Utterly and completely ridicuous. I love trophies, but that is assinine. I might as well toss my entire pre current generation game libaray. Because without TROPHIES and ACHIVEMENTS its POINTLESS!

It's set in 1935, so it's going to run alongside the first VC. Meaning it wont be this academy stuff like VC2, it seems.
