"Dark Void!" Riley heard Marie's spell easily and responded with his own. He created a large void around himself and Marie, sucking away all the darkness and revealing her to Riley's field of hearing. Besides, he still had Plot activated, so he knew where everything on the arena was anyway.

'She could have killed me right then if I wasn't so fast. I'm gonna have to do this earlier than expected', Riley thought as he pulled out his guitar and began to play a spell and sing. "Betwixt...And Between!" In a loud bang, and a wobbling of the ground, Riley completely disappeared from vision. He was still there, but he was now made completely of the element of sound. Darkness probably couldn't hurt him in this form, but he still had to be wary.

"Fighting fire with fire. Now neither of us can hurt each other. We can only just chip away at each other's mana supply. Easier said than done. He used quite a number of spatial spells already, and he is an elf." She still stood, ready to fight. "You'll need to make a decisive blow soon. If not, you will run out of mana, while I will still have more than enough to finish you off with. You've done well to come farther than most warriors, but solely defensive techniques won't lead you to victory."

Find a row of seats wasn’t too difficult. Trez spotted a number of chairs with their backs to the wall next to a doorway a bit further down the hall.

“You don’t have to worry about the fancy bit,” Trez said with a laugh as he took a seat. “I’m not entirely at home in the more luxurious places either.”

Trez leaned back in his chair taking a deep breath. He has glad to have a chance to sit down. While he was alive again, Trez still hadn’t completely recovered from his fight, and the constant walking he had been doing since he came to hadn’t helped matters. He was glad to have an opportunity to take a breather.

“Take as much time as you need,” said Trez. “The night is young and we don’t have to go anywhere until you’re ready.”

'She's right. If I leave this form, I wouldn't be able to use it again in this fight...And maintaining it now is taxing enough. It's my only chance of winning. I have to act fast while she can still be attacked!'

As sound, Riley could move incredibly fast, control his volume and his pitch, and make powerful vibrations. He began to spin around the corners of the arena, traveling through the strings and noisemakers of his instruments. To use their magic, they didn't have to be played by his own hands, just played. And that it was happened. Traveling faster and faster around the arena, it began to rumble with vibrations, and the elements of water, earth and wind began to destroy the entirety of the arena, as Time began to distort randomly, not by Riley's whim, and it became harder to have perceptions of time. Riley made the volume and pitch of all this noice as loud as he could, and directed it all at Marie. He turned himself into all different kinds of ear-splitting, painful screeches and whistles. The arena also continued to get destroyed, covered with small pointed mountains, boulders smashing against it, fissures, powerful waves being thrashed all around, and winds sweeping everything. It was either all happening so fast, or Time was being distorted to the point where it was impossible to tell.

'Yes! I made the sounds so unbearably loud and annoying, they would easily deafen Marie, even with her ears filled. That, combined with the destroying of the arena....I hope this end's this or I'm finished!'

Admist the destruction and eardrum destroying sounds, Riley's voice echoed to Marie, and if she wasn't already knocked out or deaf from the sounds, she would hear, "It was a good fight, Miss Marie!"

As time became distorted, Marie was bombarded from every side in a rapid fashion. She narrowly escaped with her life. "Tangible Darkness!" she screamed in desperation as while in her Dark Form. She became Solid Night. Normally physically weak, this combination used her good spiritual and magical stats. She became statue-like as she endured the chaos. She was rocked back and forth by all the elements and sound, and she began to chip away. When the insanity ended, she cancelled her combination and fell forward, barely catching herself. As she struggled to get back up on her feet, Riley could see her bleeding from numerous cuts across her body. Her eyes were strained to stay open, and she was having an impossibly hard time standing up. Her inner ear was shot. She was deaf and had no balance. She could not get off her knees. Her confidence was largely eroded, but she was still alive. She maintained her grip on her sword and she stared down the distant Riley. "I can still see victory," she said, though weakly. At this point, she could possibly just be bluffing. "Charon," she whispered, though Riley would likely still be able to hear it. She melted into her shadow and appeared behind Riley. She cast, "Fossor Terminus," or at least tried to. Riley had plenty of time to deliver one final physical attack.

Riley turned around, grippimg his guitar. He quickly hit Marie or the head with it, and a powerful chord rang out across the five arenas.

"The crowd wants a show. Always. And I live to please the crowd."

Jessi screamed out in surprise, "Riley has defeated Marie!!" An obvious part of the crowd went wild. "This is quite the upset, wouldn't you agree, Dr. William?"

"...Yes, yes it is," he answered in a depressed tone. Obviously, he was not too happy about the outcome. "This means all three members of the Raiken family have fallen in Rounds 1 and 2. How... unexpected. Tomorrow, Riley will face off against Enrica."

"Can't wait! See you all later." Jessi and Dr. Williams signed off, and the medics came in to take care of Marie. Riley was escorted out, so he could start undergoing mana restoration.

In the medical room, Nina entered. By this point, Marie was already regaining consciousness. "You lost," Nina stated with discuss.

"I'm assuming you won," Marie gathered. "Upset you won't battle me again? What are you going to do now? Drop out."

"...Yes, I think I will. I'm so disappointed with you." Nina turned around and left.

Marie sighed. "...I sometimes swear she is more like a creepy stalker than an archenemy."

Nina reported her withdrawal from the tournament, much of a shock to the committee. The clerk remarked, "First R'lyeh, now Nina. How... unexpected. Ugh, the viewers and sponsors won't be pleased with this."

    "The diplomat withdrew?" Nina asked.

"Yes, so the Quarterfinals match for Division B will be Janet versus Luna, and now Division A will be Jeane versus Vendetta. ...I swear we should make it against the rules to drop out or something..." He mumbled to himself.

"I wander what the man is planning... Not that it matters." Nina thought to herself. She did not care to do business with Etreo or Zotta, since she could not trust them. The assassin decided to return to her work in Gratu.

"What?" was all Vendetta could muster as he was informed that he would advance to the quarterfinals, and would be fighting Jeane. He had returned to his hotel room that evening and had been fixing Dai Catarina when the news came to him. He thanked the messenger and returned to working on Dai Catarina. "Weird turn of events."

"Don't pretend like you aren't happy about it." DiCat interrupted Vendetta's thoughts.

"I won't." In truth, he was happy that he had a chance to continue. He had a feeling that he could make up for his less-than-stellar performances that day against Jeane.

After some hours of labor, Dai Catarina had been fixed. Satisfied, Vendetta decided to pocket her and head out into town to perhaps find and fraternize with the other competitors. He walked around the fairgrounds, smoking and enjoying the different lights that appeared as he casually changed ocular types to gain new perspectives on the scenery.

Janet wandered the fair-grounds having left her snipe-rifle back in her room. She stopped by a booth to grab a sandwich and continued walking while eating it. The air seemed to have grown more festive since night had fallen, and the place was lit with various flashing lights. She enjoyed wandering around observing what the other people were doing.

Vendetta walked and found the assassin. "Hey" He called as he walked up to Janet. "Wanna walk?" He had procured a stick of meatballs for himself to eat. He was somewhat happy to find someone roughly his own age as well.

Janet shrugged, "I don't see why not." She continued forward without looking to see if he followed.

Vendetta was a bit taken aback by the womans distant nature, then he reminded himself that she was an assassin and shrugged, walking alongside her. "So what brought you here?"

Looking at a group of people passing she responded, "I've been in hiding... for a while. I decided to come here because... I haven't seen people... in a long time." She paused again and looked at him, "People interest me."

"Well that's nice." Vendetta sipped on a beer he had purchased. "You got anyone back home you're fighting for?"

"Not really... Coming here was a... personal choice."

"Ah.." Vendetta muttered. DiCat managed to strain out an intense whisper to the detective, "YOU WANNA BANG HER, DON'T YOU?" Vendetta almost spat out his beer at this but just began to choke instead. "In all honesty, Dicat" He said back to the gun, sure that Janet probably did not mind "I kinda lost interest in sexual things at around 22. There's only so many naked people you can see before it just becomes old hat." Vendetta uneasily turned back to the assassin. It was true that he did not want sex from her, but it did not mean that he was not romantically interested. He had never romanced an assassin before. "So, what're you going to do if you win? With the money, I mean."

Janet threw away the wrapper from her sandwich away and shrugged, "I don't really need it... probably just going to give it to... my family I guess."

Vendetta decided not to think much on her actual intent once he heard it. It wasn't his place to judge. "Say, wanna go get a drink, maybe talk with some of the others if they show up?"

"Alright," Janet replied and began walking towards a bar she remembered seeing on the map.

Vendetta quickly realized that Janet was most likely a poor target for romantic intent, and so quickly dropped her name from that agenda in his mind. She did seem like an interesting acquaintance however, and so, with a final bite to finish off his meatballs, he followed the assassin.

After another 20 to 30 minutes of sparse conversation, Enrica had finally finished her mana replenishment. "Well I seem to be finished with this now. Still a little dizzy but that should pass with time. Shall we go get something to eat now then?" Enrica rose to her feet, removing her oxygen mask as she did before strapping it to the tank. The mermaid let out a deep breath, enjoying the non-mana infused air. "Anywhere you would like to go is fine. I owe you for the company."

When the two arrived at the bar, they found a lonely woman in purple at the bar with two empty martini glasses in front of her as she sipped on a third. Farida looked largely defeated. "I looked at every bar and couldn't find anyone... Now here I am at the last one, with alcohol as my only friend. ...I'll never find my true love, or get laid."

“Oh no, the pleasure was all mine,” Trez said rising with Enrica. “As for somewhere to eat, I spotted a nice little bar on my way to the stadium. I didn’t try any food, but the atmosphere there seemed nice.”

Motioning Enrica to follow, Trez began walking towards the exit of the building. Once he emerged into the city he had to stop a few times as he tried to remember where exactly the bar was.

It took slightly longer than he expected, but Trez eventually found the building he was looking for. Entering the bar, Trez was pleasantly surprised to see a few familiar faces.

“Ah, it looks like some of the other competitors have also found their way to this establishment,” Trez said, turning back. As he did, he realized that he had forgotten to check and see if Enrica had followed him.

Lobo went out for a walk in the city. The cool evening breeze gently brushed against his face. "'Tis nice to be around others every once in a while. Though, I prefer being alone." After a while, Lobo started thinking about his match against Jeane earlier. "I didn't expect I would lose to a human girl. I'm still confused as to how a human could survive a crushing grip on the neck and still have some strength left to fight back. Then again, she's not just some ordinary human girl. There's something about her that's appealing to me." Lobo never noticed he was starting to like Jeane, even though he doesn't know much about her. He doesn't like her in a romantic way, but rather in a brotherly way.

Lobo passed by a bar. Judging from the noise, it would seem that there are a lot of people inside. Lobo decided to go inside.

Enrica's heart sank a little when Trez mentioned a desire to visit a bar. Nevertheless she plastered on a fake smile and rolled with it for now. "I suppose one or two drinks is fine but if this guy turns out to be an alcoholic...." Enrica's thoughts trailed off as she failed to come to a conclusion as to what she'd actually do to Trez. The woman followed in silence as Trez led them through the carnival. The woman's cheap nature kept her from actually stopping to buy anything. Nevertheless she couldn't help but oggling the various shiny trinkets scattered about the the fair. It was times like these that made her realize just how much she loved Tana. It's culture, it's people, everything about this land screamed of wonder. The mermaid let out a contented sigh as they continued wondering. When they finally did arrive at the bar though Enrica was forced to put on the facade once more.

The mermaid perked up a bit when she heard Trez mention the presence of some of the other competitors. Sure enough there was the detective from earlier, Farida, and some woman who's name she hadn't yet learned. Still, something puzzled her. "The Raikens were fairly friendly with that Farida woman earlier yet I don't see them anywhere...." Enrica slapped on a bigger fake smile when Trez looked towards her, masking her distaste for bars as best she could. "It looks like nearly everyone has found some company for the evening," she stated, indicating Vendetta and Janet. "It seems strange to me that competitors can be this friendly with one another." As she spoke, Enrica glanced again towards Trez as if reevaluating her trust in the man. "Either way, shall we go ahead and eat?"

“Of course,” Trez said to Enrica as he scanned the restaurant from the entrance for a table. “Just because we are fighting for the same prize doesn’t mean we can’t be friendly. Even though I lost and died, I hold no ill will to the one who defeated me. After all, I’m alive now. No harm, no foul. But yes, let’s eat.”

Trez waved as he spotted the private detective. He made his way to a table near to where the private detective was sitting.

“Hello there. Nice to see you again. It was Vendetta, correct?” Trez said. “How has the tournament been treating you?”

After his mana restoration, Riley was feeling much better. Try as he might to avoid too many fans, they found him. Hundreds of people who watchwd his fight came to congratulate him on a job well done. After the tons of hugs, kisses and autographs exchanged, he went to Marie's room to see how she was doing.

Marie was with her family at the time. "Not a good year for the Raikens," she remarked, bemused.

"It's been a surprising year thus far," Pinyana remarked. "I was especially surprised to see you here, honey," she said to her husband.

"I'm proud of you son; never expected to see you make it big like this," Mayor Kaden said to Rakurai.

"Thanks!" Rakurai sad gleefully. "Sorry I got eliminated so quickly."

"You aren't used to being stabbed. Honestly, Pinyana's no better when it comes to pain; hence the armor." Marie remarked. She then looked at the door and said, "Welcome, Mr. Rockstar," as Riley approached the threshold. "What brings you here?"

R'lyeh walked around the fairgrounds as well, he looked to the ground and found an autographed picture of Riley. He picked the picture up and saw it was of the elf smiling and playing his instruments. After staring at the picture for a moment, R'lyeh snapped his fingers, causing a spark to ignite which he sent across his body to burn the picture to cinders. He did not like Riley, and would have preferred him dead, though he did not think this trip the appropriate time to do so.

Jeane had just been meeting with the friends who'd come with her to the event, several of whom had contributed to her arsenal in preparation for the event. She was still a bit shaken up from Lobo's strength earlier, despite being fully healed, but embraced their excitement for her success with her own. They finished double-checking them the last canister they'd made, filled with the last spells two of her friends had been able to make before she'd started the preliminaries. It only held two major noteworthy spells, the rest simple ranged elemental attacks she believed would be quite ineffective against a summoner. That stood well to summarize her entire stock, as well - she was completely robbed of barriers after the first and second round, having burned up almost everything she had in a hurry to deter her four opponents. Now, including her spells, she only had Tractus, Singulus, Bullet Time, Pocket Space, Recall, and a dozen electrical spells they only just found she'd left at home by mistake. The time spells were her only final trump card, as she'd made sure to avoid showing any throughout the entire tournament thus far.

She thanked her friends dearly, and set out to get dinner. Unfortunately, with the grand festivities, most places were absolutely full, and since Jeane was too embarrassed to ask for seats at each place, so she asked someone else to check for room at each place. After many failures, she gave up on a full restaurant, and entered the bar with her friends looking for just a sandwich. However, she hadn't payed attention to the small crowd that was inside - a large lineup of competitors. Jeane felt a little awkward bumping into everyone here, but wasn't going to give up on her stomach that easily.

"Isn't it weird? With the focus on the tournament, shouldn't a group like this have pulled a full crowd? Why is this the only place with space?" She muttered lowly, to nobody in particular.

Enrica followed along silently, keeping to herself when Trez and Vendetta started speaking. The last thing she wanted was for the detective to start blurting out her personal thoughts again. Looking around the bar only served to make her more uncomfortable though. Everywhere she looked there were drunkards, rough housers, and all maner of low lifes. "Ugh....It just had to be a bar," she sighed to herself, continuing her unenthusiastic ocular patrol over the bar. Her eyes landed on Jeane who was apparently the only competitor to have any friends with her outside of the tournament competitors. Aside from her was the woman who had apparently accompanied Vendetta. "What was her name?" Enrica struggled, trying to remember anything the woman might have said that could lead her to a conclusion. Finally giving up on remembering the woman's name, Enrica decided to simply start speaking and go from there. "Since the boys are apparently enjoying themselves I suppose us girls will have to have fun on our own," she sighed, giving a quaint smile as she did. "I recognize you from the tournament waiting room but I don't think we were ever introduced. I'm Enrica, Enrica Gardello."

Enrica sighed all the more when Janet left, thinking she had somehow scared the woman off at first. "Was I too forward? I swear I thought that was a pretty mild mannered introduction," she sighed, sinking back into her wobbly bar stool. The mermaid perked up when Janet returned, though her stomach churned a bit when she saw the drinks in her hand. "Oh please no, not-," then Janet explained. "....Juice?" Enrica took the glass, smelling it at first before taking a sip. "....Apple juice? Here?" Enrica glanced around, making sure she hadn't died and been sent to some strange afterlife. What kind of a bar served apple juice in the middle of a world fighting tournament. "....Thank you," she finally spoke, taking another sip of the juice. "So, what brings you here tonight?"
