Jack_Norton from the Winter Wolves indie game group is now divulging quite a bit of information about the upcoming computer game Loren the Amazon Princess. You can read about the game mechanics in a new blog post at http://www.winterwolves.net/blog/2011/06/loren-amazon-princess-base-classes . It's stated to be "a more casual RPG" compared to Planet Stronghold. (Older posts about the game can be found at http://www.winterwolves.net/blog/category/roleplay-games/loren-the-amazon-princess , and contain some images that may not be worksafe.)

The group is much closer to finishing work on The Flower Shop: Winter In Fairbrook, so that women's romance game will be released first. Jack_Norton has stated elsewhere that people have been much more willing to buy the group's RPGs and reverse harem games than their other products, so they're focusing their efforts on those two categories of games.

I like the simplicity class system: warrior, thief, mage. Unfortunately, the skills are pretty basic too! Backstab and bleeding strike for the thief? That's all?

Hi, I tried to create a new thread but probably don't have permission high enough :)
Just wanted to say that finally I posted a beta demo. Is still largely unfinished, misses some art, but the battles gameplay is almost final. I wanted to ask if anyone is interested in trying it and giving me any feedback?

    Game webpage: http://www.winterwolves.com/lorenamazonprincess.htm

The download is a single .zip containing Pc, Mac and Linux versions. Thanks!

It will probably be at least a day or two before I have free time for beta testing. But I've been looking forward to Loren, and hoping to try out its gameplay. After work tomorrow, I will remind myself to give it a shot, and provide feedback.

Thanks, there are a few known bugs in that version. Hmm, well thinking better about it, probably I should upload a new build since I fixed lots of stuff, but won't be done before end of month :ambivalence:

It took me far too long to start up the Loren demo...

One of the biggest tests in any RPG is how easy it is to understand the combat system. I struggled a bit to figure out the first battle in Loren. When I clicked on my characters, the only options seemed be 'change order,' 'defend' and 'item.' It looked like I had to click on the enemy to attack. But every now and then, the 'attack' option did not appear. I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. I think I need to try again.

The game may benefit from an optional tutorial. If there is one, it should not be mandatory, and should be entirely skippable. Also, any tutorial should be interactive, so that the player isn't just reading instructions, or seeing the computer act out what needs to be one.

If anyone is still interested in this game you might want to know that it's now available on Humble Store:
The Deluxe Edition includes the expansion.

It's also 50% off, just like all other Winter Wolves games this week: http://www.winterwolves.net/blog/2014/04/weeklong-sale-all-my-games-50-off/

Pretty sure the Cheap Games thread would have fulfilled your purpose and saved you the trouble of resurrecting a zombie.
