Meaningless Dialogue and Role Play - Active Topical Banter
Dialogue in games is a bit like the jazz music in a few ways, mostly in that Scott is way more interested in it than the kids these days, but also in that improvisation is key but also may not matter.
-Part 1 of ?? in which Scott explains how narrative video games are kinda like jazz
-East vs West
-Ifs and thens
-Conversation choices that don’t ‘matter’ are more interesting to mull over than the ones that change the scope of the game
-Granularity of choice
-What constitutes what matters. New endings, different scene the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you pet that cat in shenmue?
