Umm, you really only have to restart DQ once, MAYBE twice to finish it. Solon claims he didn't restart at all. I never really bothered with traps, either, but the lack of any sort of inn was kind of annoying. I say give it another shot. You may never want to play it again after you finish it, but it's a great game nonetheless.

It was, for lack of a better phrase in English, hella fracking tedious. And not tedious in one part (as in Nova Prospekt), the whole game was that way pretty much (I mean, holy Mary mother of God why would you make an extended escort mission in Half-Life 2? WHY?!?).

Ending was pretty lame, too. Don't think it'll bother you too much, though.

Hopefully SiN's more my thing. Shooting things, T&A and gratuitous profanity already have me interested!

Taking my sweet time with Legend of Mana. Right now I'm wrapping up the Jewel story arc, after which I'll probably head into Etansil/Bejeweled City and recruit Blackpearl who'll never leave my group for the rest of the game. She's just too badass. Plus her 'instant special bar full' assist effect is great, plus her special technique Soul Reaver is just sick. So yeah, that's always fun.

I couldnt even get out of the first area... I didn`t have enough money for better armor and weapons, and was wasting my 10 zenny a drop on healing potions that didn`t come close to healing enough. I understand many people love this game, but I prefer something challenging without being overly so. (What? Limited saves? But I have to leave now!)

Yeah, you'll be happy to know that there is no real escorting in SiN Episodes: Emergence. There's a small part where "<span class="spoiler">you and Jessica are pushing through Supremacy Tower</span>", but you don't "<span class="spoiler">have to worry about her health or anything.</span>" And yes, the T&A with Elexis is sublime. smile10.png

But then I cannot turn off my PS2, hey? Sometimes I only have half an hour or an hour to put in. I don`t want to leave the PS2 running for a day.

Haha, that reminds me of how I ruined my first PSOne like six or seven years ago. Ironically it was playing a BoF game, too. In that game in order to get skills from Momo time must elapse in specific intervals. I wanted the skill Oracle for Nina, but in order to get that skill the requirement is your game clock be at 40 hours. I got into town with about fifteen hours on my game. So I just parked myself in front of Momo, turned the TV off, and let the game run for two days without touching it.

Yeah. Totally wasted the whole thing. Not my smartest decision ever. :)

All soft saving means is that it makes a temporary save(can't recall where) that's deleted as soon as you load it. You can turn off the game and the system. I've done it myself. Really comes in handy in some of those longer dungeons.

I think Breath of Fire: DQ is a love it or hate it kind of game. No matter how many lovers of the game try to convince me of its greatness, I'll never change my mind. After two failed attempts, I just don't feel like going back.

It's a shame they had to take such a risk with it, because I loved BoFIV.

To keep this on topic, I started Astonishia Story for PSP today. It's not as astonishingly bad as early reviews led me to believe. It's like Legend of Heroes: ToV meets Arc the Lad III, but without any depth. At least it's playable, unlike some PSP rpgs (I'm looking at you, Generation of Chaos)

Personally I love Breath of Fire: DQ, one of my favourite games ever.

In the PAL-version they removed the soft save, and instead you start out with 9 save tokens and find heckloads of them along the road. So I guess we Europeans turned out lucky for once.

The encounter rate is high in the newer SMT games I'm afraid. There are items to buy in the shop eventually to change encounter rates. You might have to buy a bit from the shop before they show up.

    I forget the names I'm afraid... ?rock.gif

Playing Shadow Hearts 3, and playing some MVP Baseball 2005. I got the updated rosters earlier this year. EA could really do some damage to 2K sports if they have new roster downloads available throughout this season and next.

Speaking of MVP baseball, I really want to know what the ETA is on the next NCAA one. UCLA is terrible in the current one because we were terrible last year. In the next one we should be able to play against someone other than San Jose State and have a fighting chance.

I liked it quite a bit, actually. I seem to be one of the few who enjoyed it more than its predecessor.

Its strongest points by far are the soundtrack (while a bit similar to the first, it has tracks that are absolutely awesome and very fitting to its setting) and the battle system. It's much more fast-paced, be it working with alchemy, exploring or battling.

The only downsides are the VA's (kinda cheesy) and the plot (not very original). But this is a game you'll definitely enjoy for its fun and simple gameplay, so those factors can be overlooked in my opinion.

Right now? Kingdom Hearts II. Jimminy's Journal is almost complete. All that's left is item harvesting via Lucky Lucky x7 and unlocking the Hades cup (which I can't seem to do for the life of me--I've beat all the other Cups and the Mission scores, but the Hades cup just won't appear).
Also trying to polish off Baten Kaitos. It's the game that never ends.

Waiting in the wings are DQVII and Atelier Iris 2.
And my DS Lite, which will arrive shortly.
