Oh, and STR and CON stuff for Gandt.

And before I forget, I should post the stat boost stuff for Grove as well.
Primarily, it's Wisdom (spells, obviously) and Charisma for turn checks.
Strength wouldn't hurt for melee, I suppose. Besides Gandt, I don't think we really have any of the more heavy armored front liners.
I, need to get raise dead soon, so we don't have to worry about Gandt being put out permanently.

Oh don't give me those puppy dog eyes.
Free At Will Spell for Wizards/Sorcerors (possibly others) - You may select a spell (level based on your Arcane Caster Level) to use at-will from the wizard or sorceror spell list. The spell is still subject to rules regarding casting (won't function in anti-magic field, can't be from a prohibted school, etc). Specialist wizards may opt to forego the normal benefits of specializing and instead choose a second at-will spell.
Arcane Caster Level 1-5: choose a spell from the 0-Level Spell List (Cantrips)
Arcane Caster Level 6-10: choose a spell from the 1st-Level Spell List
Arcane Caster Level 11-15: choose a spell from the 2nd-Level Spell List
Arcane Caster Level 16-20: choose a spell from the 3rd-Level Spell List
*********************************
There might be other things that could be done instead of selecting a new spell when you reach the appropriate caster level. I've not discussed those ideas with TG, but I was thinking someone along the lines of free meta-magic feat added to the existing at-will spell, etc. We'll have to give them some thought, but while I was typing this up I started thinking about the case where a player might have a wizard casting ray of frost, and he and others might come to thinking of ray of frost as part of that wizard's persona, so instead of trading up for another spell when he gets to the next Caster Level set, he instead gets some other boost to the spell, such an increase in damage die, or status effect.
Of course, Ray of Frost is a bad example, since its damage is always 1d3 and Magic Missile is 1d4+1 with up to 5 missiles, so perhaps the character could instead say his 1st level at-will spell when he reaches that point would be a "frost missile" that behaves like magic missile but does cold damage....
Something to think about, anyhow

The spellcaster may have to endure through the Free Lv.0 Spell levels. Ray of Frost is worthless after Lv.2, but Touch of Fatigue and Flare may be useful until Lv.5 (should get the Lv.1 Free Spell at 5). Allow a player to apply Metamagic feats or things like Warmage Edge, and players will wonder why they can't do the same with later level spells. It might be okay to apply Metamagic feats though. A Free Metamagic Spell will still take more time to cast, and a Quickenend Free Spell is pointless.

Anywho, would anyone like to play a short side-quest or tournament or whatever while Chia is away? I'll probably use the Savage Tide characters just to make things easier, but we could do something else.
Re: Side Quest: Sure. But what can we get done in just 10 days?
<div></div><div class="QUOTEHEAD">QUOTE</div><div class="QUOTE">Re: Side Quest: ?Sure. ?But what can we get done in just 10 days?</div>
I'm thinking a simple survival game will do nicely. Get everyone together and have them fight equivalent CR monsters. Every time one monster is defeated, you move on to a monster 1 CR point higher, and I will focus on using monsters we haven't seen in our games so far. And hey, anyone can play this game. No need for a 3 player minimum or anything like that. If just Kit and Gandt ( I might throw in Jandar just because I didn't get to use him) show up, then that's just fine.
This would also be a good time to test the new Free Spell house rule, but I will need a spellcaster to do that.
The thing is, I can't remember for the life of me where I saw it last. I looked at the SRD, Complete books and even ran searches at Wizards.
If anyone knows what I'm talking about and happens to know where I can find it, please post. It would really help Kit out.
I guess I'll mention this here, too. ?Keno said this in a PM:
<div></div><div class="QUOTEHEAD">QUOTE</div><div class="QUOTE">I've seen arguments that you should be able to wear a shield on your back and get a bonus, and I think somewhere I've seen a feat that grants that bonus, but I don't know where. </div>
But I can't find the feat he's talking about. Anyone know where it is?
It was a pretty popular rule in 2nd edition.
Good choice for Gandt, although I think he may want to look into feats and abilities that improve his defenses against spells, or those that improve his chances to go first in a round.
And I found the enchant in Arms and Equipment: Fierce weapon, trade your DEX mod. to AC for a bonus in melee damage. Nice because you don't trade Atk, but a little risky because Kit is a "doding fool" as Soulweaver put it.

There's gotta be something better than Iron Will, but I don't even know where to begin looking. Maybe there's some kind of armor enchantment that adds spell resistance?
<div></div><div class="QUOTEHEAD">QUOTE</div><div class="QUOTE">I think that's what Weapon Finesse and Sneak Attack are supposed to accomplish</div>
Sort of, but Weapon Finesse is kind of like Weapon Specialization for the low STR, high DEX types, and Sneak Attack works on Flat-Footed targets.
But there's no real point in continuing this because Kit doesn't have an unplanned Feat slot until Lv.15, so it will stay at "Fierce Strike should be a feat" for now.
Really appreciate an answer here. I would like to know if we've been too cautious or what not.
**Speaking of missed treasure, Kit should have a Cold Iron Dagger.

So, what do you guys want me to bring you back from Turkey?
Loot doesn't have to weigh a lot, nor does it have to appear in enormous quantities of "lesser" gear. Besides, that's what Bags of Holding are for.
Not a large amount of time, expecially with the weekend, but I'd thought I'd give a heads up.
