A denial of service attack...or so I was told by Dremmy via Raina via RPGamer staff (?).

If that was a DDoS, that was one hell of a sustained DDoS. Especially for such a small site.

Well, that was a few days after the forums went down, so maybe that's what it looked like at the time.

So, anyone else enjoy the D3 launch debacle? Ah, the sound of fanboys whining is...well, not quite music to my ears, but it was funny.

Yeah, a lot of my friends were throwing a hissy fit over the "error 37" debacle.

    Always-online-drm can be such a hoot :D

I actually picked up Starcraft 2 the day D3 launched after I learned that the game has an off-line mode

I was the one who told Raina. Yes there was a DDOS attack combined with a [censored] mess. Won't go into details on the mess part atm; Let Paws(the one who told me) make a official announcement. Took them a while to clean up the mess...

I try not to take news from CNN seriously. I've never been a fan of their reporting practices.

Not that I take the article seriously, I just don't think young men are becoming socially inept. I think women are becoming too darned demanding.
  • Aquila HawkAquila Hawk O_o Full Members
    edited May 2012
Women have always demanded too much. Macbeth is a classic story of a woman who demanded more of her husband. The mindless bravado of men that we have traditionally fallen back on is now nearly always punished. Young men are increasingly disillusioned by the prospects that they don't "match up". However, this is all most likely because of bad communication and misinformation. Because of social media, and instant messaging before that (and even our beloved forums), our social interaction skills have changed. I won't say diminished (although there are lazy writers online), but that is because there are a separate set of skills when communicating via a text dominated medium as opposed to face to face communications. Ergo, face to face speech dominated communication skills have suffered while textual communication has improved and evolved in some cases. Not only that, but Western Civilization (at least American culture) treats sex as some kind of taboo. As such, there is no real discussions that go on about relationships of any kind except an almost puritanical Ned Flanders style of abstinence. So instead of dealing with all that, we play Angry Birds and check out sites that are like YouTube, but only use one of the two words combined with some porn related term.

Farts are only fun if their noise is fun. They are also only funny if there are enough people around. Farting alone has no meaning and makes me depressed. Farting is an art. If no one is there to listen, it feels like I lose a part of my soul.

I would of at least said something here, Bain.

As for me; seems like my CPU fan died (turned on the PC this morning, it didn't spin at all. This is one time I'm glad for a clear case) so I'm on tapatalk until the mail gets here. Should be here in a couple hours unless the package was delayed. (hope not!)

Alright, fine, I will. :p Although I agree in part with Nim, I would say aroma is more important. If you can clear a room, then you know you dropped a proper f-bomb. :p I hate how sarcasm and off handedness tends to be lost in text :(

Bain: If we had the opportunity, we probably would have filled a page or two with birthday well wishes for you. So I guess we better get started then. Happy belated birthday, Bain! Hope it was a great one.

Have you tried opening up your case and pointing a small desk fan at it. I used to do that with my comp while playing Starcraft II in order to cool my videocard, and it worked great.

Aquila; I'd do that IF we had a desk fan. Luckily I saw this coming earlier in the week and the new CPU fan is in the mail(we ordered a new one). Just have to wait for the mail today and for Shadowcat to get home. Which shouldn't be much longer.

[edit] No package. Murphy struck again >< It's coming priority mail though, should be here tuesday.

I didn't get to say anything thanks to the downtime, but as of May 22nd, my first game shipped. It's Sorcery, for the PS3 Move.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AeaCts1KBQ

Posting more because I'm pretty proud of having accomplished that. Not even five years ago did I think I'd have pulled off shipping my first title.

I can't answer many questions on it as I got laid off back in January as the game was in beta. I'm starting up with a new company on a different project in the next few weeks. But I can say that during Sorcery, I got to sit in on one of the VO recording sessions and had the pleasure of meeting Steve Blum and Troy Baker, who voiced minor characters for the game. They're both great guys, and it was thrilling watching how they actually work in the booth. Also, Troy apparently walks around every where with a pendant bearing the brand of the L'Cie and considered Snow one of his favorite voice acting roles ever.

Yeah the fan's dead in my lappy. So I'm just using a normal fan on a high setting, which is woking well enough... Except it's getting close to winter.

Thanks for the (brute forced) Birthday Wishes. Got nothing, well except that trip to New Zealand... probably a bit more then nothing actually.

Well happy belated birthday, Bain. :) And Deadman Wonderland does have a lot of gore, but I guess they figure only adults are up that late. I do like that they had Casshern Sins on there.
