  • LOL it's kinda funny that a lengthy review of the game failed to mention Dragon Quest at any point, despite the remarkably clear inspiration BoD7 took from it. As a DQ fanboy, I'm a little miffed. ^_^;
  • Well, yeah, as big as the game is, they're probably feeling challenged finding ways to rip out the DQ look and retheme it to appeal more to the west. (Why yes, yes I am bitter about DQ8's window theme.)
  • Been a while since I played 4-7, but I been tinkering with DW3 GBC at work lately (slacking off? nevar!) and this reminds me a lot of just casting Bikill on yourself. *shrug* Or what was it called in the GBC port? TwoHits? Something...
  • Interesting how only one person brought up graphics. I know there's a huge stigma in the RPG community about even pretending graphics exist sometimes, but they're a part of the presentation in the end. If you're going to use graphics at all, then us…
  • I've got nothing against MMORPGS themselves. Lately, after watching .hack and such, I've been very interested in getting into an online game again, and have spent some time tonight looking for a good one. Something for me to do when I want to pass t…

  • Hmmmm, speaking as someone who's seen one of these before, during a stay in Japan a couple years back, I hope he's gotten better at this. It's a great fan service, and his followers will adore it no matter what, but... Eh, I guess I was just disa…
  • FF3 was not the first actual job system. Unless you mean the first job system in the FF series, in which case you would be correct. I've played DQ5 a few times. There are amateur translations out there, after all. More than one, even. It's not a …

    Aeris died?
  • FF:TSW quality renders of Cloud and Sephiroth? The yaoi community is trembling.
  • I still don't understand how people can't tell the diff between pretty guys and chicks in anime. o.O Maybe I've just watched too much? I notice very clear technique differences between the two genders, and many of them are universal in anime.
  • Proof that these amateur translators need to take a break from all that hard (read: lethargic, back-of-their-mind, overly self-defensive) work figuring out how to insert text into SFC/PSX code and do some easier hacking on these PC games we never ge…
  • Actually I find the whole Star Wars 'thing' rather dull and contrived. ;) I have never felt compelled to praise a game themed after it, so I'll have to disagree with the whole "It rocks cuz it's Star Wars" angle.

    Yer darn tootin. Too bad it'll never be translated.
  • Goodness, such a mess. First of all, I remember hearing DQ7 was in development for so long because Yuji Horii PMSed when some magazine released a buttload of plot details, and he had the whole story reworked. That was the second restart of the pr…

  • I also sat up straight when I read this. Very cool news. I enjoyed this game lots, and would be pleased to see how well they remake it. And I agree that the extra characters are most likely ones already present in the story, just made playable. K…
  • I was very pleased with these scans when I first saw them on another site. Very, very pleased. The new battle engine excited me most of all. Aside from being able to see all the nifty techniques actually played out, this gives me a chance to feel mo…
  • Man, I still have a DW7 save file right before the final dungeon. From like, a year ago, or something. I've tried to finish it, really I have. I just can't summon up the patience for it. See, I'm a skill freak. I love learning new skills, and creati…

  • Geez, suddenly I feel like giving Vagrant Story another go. I enjoyed the FFTness of it all (as far as soundtrack and some sort of feel to it), but I just don't like games where you're indoors all the time, no matter how great the storyline is. A…
  • All things considered, the hype surrounding FFXI is similar to the hype that surrounded AC2. I would, therefore, find it not entirely clever to get ones hopes up about FFXI if one is disappointed in AC2. You know, just for like, the sake of logic. H…

  • Aaaaaactually, no it doesn't. The 'e' in 'enix' is a short e, not a long e. A japanese e, basically. So it's like eh-nix. Therefore, Squenix would be more like Squen-ix. It would sound better to japanese, too, since 'e' is the first part of the 'eaa…
