Yes Castlevania is more popular in the US than in Japan these days.
Its strange because the franchise is more japanese than It used to be.

I hate when you want to explore a certain area, look for chests or build experience and the story/cutscene takes you away and sometimes you cant get back.
It happens alot in FF games.
I prefer a real-time battle system.
Also some people have said that fighting games involve random button mashing, but really it comes down to how responsive the controlls are for a particular game and the players skill.
I just started an import version of Front Mission 4, and if you liked 3 you will like this one even more.
You can configure your Wanzers to support each other in combat.
The only thing wrong with it is the graphics are a bit dull but its no problem.
